“GWRSD Sixth Grade Bridges Day” with The Appalachian Teen Mountain Project (AMTP)

Sixth graders from each elementary school in the district joined together for a special year-end experience at Northwoods/Pleasant Valley YMCA Camp on June 10th.  The special day was developed and facilitated by the AMTP staff—Dan Kusch, Donna San Antonio, Stefanie King and Kelly Ulrich—in order to bring students all together for the first time as they prepare for the transition to Kingswood Regional Middle School in the fall.

During this school year, every sixth grade class participated in the Voices supplemental literature program with Ms. King or Ms. Ulrich from AMTP.  This program provided all GWRSD students with a common experience upon which to build the Bridges Day; the focus was on key themes from class:  speaking and listening carefully, taking other people’s perspectives, working together, standing up for your values, giving your best effort, and having fun.

GWRSD gratefully acknowledges the time and effort put forth by school staff, AMTP, and the Northwoods Camp staff to create this incredible experience for our students.
