LOCATION - Derry is in Rockingham County.
GEOGRAPHICAL FEATURES - Beaver Lake, Ballard Pond, Ballard State Forest, Island Pond, and Adams Pond are all part of Derry's geographical features.
TOURIST ATTRACTIONS - One tourist attraction in Derry is the Robert Frost Homestead. The Bicentennial and Firefighters Museums are also in Derry. The Hidden Valley R.V. and Golf Park is an 800 acre campground with a golf course. The Adams Memorial Opera House offers many plays and musical productions.
POPULATION - The population of Derry is about 32,000.

HISTORY - The original name of Derry was Nutfield. The first settlers arrived in Derry in 1719. In 1722, a town charter was granted under the name of Londonderry. Derry became independent from Londonderry in 1827.
John Stark was born in Derry. Harvey Hood, the founder of Hood Milk, was born in Derry. Alan B. Shepard, who was born in East Derry in 1923, was the first American in space.
