LOCATION - Fremont is on the South Eastern part of New Hampshire. Fremont is in Rockingham County. To get to Fremont, you come South on Route 93 and exit on to Route 101. Then go toward Route 107 to Fremont. You can also take Route 95 and exit on to 101. Then go toward Route 107 to Fremont.
GEOGRAPHICAL FEATURES - The geographical features in Fremont are the Spruce Swamp, Exeter River, Loon Pond, Beede Hill, Turners Pond, and Red Brook. The precipitation Fremont gets annually is about 45.0 inches. In January, the average temperature is 21.8 degrees F. and in July the average temperature is 69.5 degrees F..
TOURIST ATTRACTIONS - Fremont has one public library, one municipal park, and the nearest ski area is McIntyre.
POPULATION -The population of Fremont in 1990 was 2,576.
BUSINESSES - In 1874, the Spaulding and Frost Cooperage was established. The Spaulding and Frost Company makes wooden buckets and barrels. The United Machine and Tool Company makes general tools and die. The Provider Bus Company provides transportation services. Fremont's Pizzeria Restaurant makes food. Fremont has one elementary school with grades one through eight.
HISTORY - In 1638, Fremont was part of Exeter. In 1742, when Brentwood split from Exeter, Fremont was still part of Brentwood. In 1764, a new township was created and called Poplin. In 1854, the name was changed to Fremont in honor of John C. Fremont who was an American West Pathfinder.
There were two riots in Fremont between 1754 and 1757. The people of Fremont were upset that the King of England was getting their best trees.
The first meeting house was built in Fremont in the 1800's. In 1885, Fellows Brick yard opened for businesses. The brick yard was important because it made the most bricks in New Hampshire in 1888. That year it made seven million bricks and employed almost one hundred fifty workers.
