Folded mountains happen when there is a movement of crustal plates, which can cause mountains to form in three ways. One of the three ways is when two plates collide. The crust is bent and squeezed together. This causes the layers of rock to fold. Folded mountains have their rock layers in a certain pattern that is different than the Fault-block and the Dome mountain. The White Mountains, which are part of the Appalachian Mountain Range, have been looked over by geologists, and their rock pattern is a folded mountain. |
