GERMS, GERMS, GERMS

Hand washing is the most important thing we can do to keep from getting sick and spreading illnesses.

Nearly 22 million school days are lost annually due to the common cold.  Students catch colds by rubbing their noses or eyes after tocuhing someone or something that's contaminated with teh cold virus (rhinovirus).

Food borne illnesses are also spread through lack of hand washing  Some strains and bacteria can live on cafeteria tables, doorknobs, and desktops for up to two hours.

Rotavirus- is a germ that causes gastrointestinal illness.  This germ can be transferred from a surface to clean hands in a matter of 20 minutes.
