Principal’s Desk

It is with great pleasure and honor to be serving my third year as the Principal of Effingham Elementary School!  Our school has a very unique home-like feeling due to its small size.  We are able to host a weekly school-wide meeting to build community and pride.  Although we do not have hundreds of families like many larger schools, we are fortunate to have many families and staff members that volunteer countless hours of their time.

New Hampshire Partners in Education awarded Effingham Elementary School the School Volunteer of the Year Award, for the 2007-2008 academic year.  Without the continued support of our families and staff, we would not be able to provide a NECAP breakfast, offer PTO sponsored dinners, support families in need, or fund many of our class trips.  We are very fortunate to have such dedicated volunteers who are always focused on one thing… our students!

Our staff continues to place a great deal of emphasis on interpreting testing data to hone in on specific strengths and weaknesses of students.  The NWEA MAP Test is one of the tools that our teachers use as a formative assessment to guide their own instruction.  They are better able to use the results to differentiate the curriculum based on individual student needs, opposed to having whole class instruction only.

Academic growth for individual students is the primary mission of our school, yet we continue to focus on the physical, social, and cultural realms as well. We are excited to share that we have provided an author visit by Marty Kelley, as well as The Children’s Stage Adventure in the past.  For the first time ever, we are offering an unlimited amount of fresh fruits and vegetables to all of our students at no cost to the families.  As always, we continue to provide opportunities to increase social development through community-building and morning meetings.

The students of Effingham Elementary School display positive attitudes toward learning while the faculty and staff are committed to teaching.  The combination has given us positive NECAP results.  We look forward to continuing on an upward climb with huge success!  On behalf of the staff at Effingham Elementary School, I would like to thank everyone for their continued support.
