What is block scheduling?

KRHS utilizes a block scheduling format, also known as a 4X4 model. KRHS schedule runs four blocks a day, each at 90 minutes in length. There a two semesters per academic year, each semester is broken into two quarters. Each semester a student may take four courses which is equal to four blocks. These courses meet daily during semester. Students may only take four courses during a semester, or eight courses per year. (Student may take more than eight courses a year if they take courses that come in quarter increments. Please see example below.) The maximum credits a student can earn per academic year is eight regardless if they take semester or quarter courses.
