COMMUNITY AND SCHOOL
Kingswood Regional High School is a comprehensive four year high school located in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.  It serves the towns of Brookfield, Effingham, New Durham, Ossipee, Tuftonboro and Wolfeboro.  The combined total population is approximately 9,000.  In addition, it is the site of the Region 9 Vocational Technical Education Center.  The 2008-2009 school population is distributed as follows: Seniors 225, Juniors 222, Sophomores 223, Freshmen 218.  There is a faculty of 87.  Kingswood is accredited by the New Hampshire Department of Education and the New England Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and Colleges.

CURRICULUM INFORMATION
Kingswood Regional High School uses a modified 4x4 block schedule.  Classes are scheduled either by quarters, semesters, or yearlong. Students are required to take a minimum of seven credits per year.

A full range of courses is offered to students from vocational to advanced placement.  Advanced level courses are offered in all subject areas.  Some of these offerings include AP courses in: Art, Biology, Calculus, Literature, World History, American History, Chemistry, and Statistics.   Additional offerings, such as Running Start and Cisco Academy, allow students to gain college credit through a partnership with the New Hampshire Community Technical College system and Cisco Corporation.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
All students are required to earn 26 credits for graduation.  These credits must include: 4 credits of English, 3 Math, 3 Science , 1 US History, 1 World History, 1 American Government/Economics,  ½ Social Studies Elective,  ½ Arts Education, ½ Computer Education, ½ Health & Wellness and 1 Physical Education*.
*Physical Education waivers are granted to student athletes in order to allow additional academic classes into their schedules.

REGION 9 VOCATIONALTECHNICAL EDUCATIONCENTER
The Region 9 Vocational Technical Education Center offers programs in Agri-Science, Marketing Education, Culinary Arts, Automotive Service Technology, Industrial Electronics, Construction Trades, Health & Human Services, Micro Computer Accounting and Administrative Business and Office Systems, Child Care, and Multimedia Communications, and Hospitality Management.

MARKING & TRANSCRIPT INTERPRETATION
Report cards are issued four times per year.  Students academic performance is indicated by numeric grades listed below:

93-100 = A
84-  92 = B
75-  83 = C
65-  74 = D
64 and Below = F

Incomplete grades are issued under certain conditions with two weeks given to change to a grade equivalent.  Pass/Fail grades are given for Driver Education with students earning .25 credit.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

KINGSWOOD SCHOLARS PROGRAM
The Kingswood Scholars Program is designed to recognize students who make a significant contribution to the high school and the community as a whole.  Students may attain three levels of recognition: Green & White, Silver, and Gold Scholar. Each honor has a combination of criteria for attainment at each level, including coursework, community service, co-curricular activities, testing, and discipline infractions.  Students are recognized for their work at an award ceremony and at graduation.

OMBUDSMAN ALTERNATIVE
The Lakeside Academy alternative education program is operated by Ombudsman Educational Services.  It is designed to help at-risk students be educationally successful.  The program focuses on students of all academic ability levels and is located on a non-school district site.

SCHOOL TO CAREER
The School-To-Career initiative offers students a comprehensive career guidance assessment which culminates in a short term career placement, such as a job shadow or a longer term internship within their career path. Students receive high school credit for work based learning experiences.  Internships are encouraged in a student’s junior and/or senior year.

JUNIOR/SENIOR HONORS PROGRAM

The Junior/Senior Honors program is a rigorous seminar that takes place after school. Students study ethics and its relevance to society. Students are nominated for this program by the faculty.  One credit is granted for participation.

PREVENTION/MEDIATION PROGRAM

Kingswood Regional High School recognizes the importance of preventive measures in addressing issues of violence, substance abuse and positive character development.  Programs provided to address these issues include, but are not limited to: Peer outreach, mediation services, youth outreach, conflict resolution courses, Safe-Home Programming, as well as a Targe Team.  In addition, assessment, consultation and support serve as interventive and remedial services available to Kingswood Regional High School students.
