English Department Summer Reading 2009

The purpose of summer reading is to enhance students’ exposure to books and reading beyond the constraints of the school year.  This practice is supported by the GWRSD commencement goals, which advocate the development of reading skills and the appreciation of arts including literature.

All students in 11th and 12th grade Honors and AP English courses will be required to complete summer reading.  Students must read all of the selections at the appropriate grade level unless otherwise indicated. Students should take notes to facilitate recalland keep a detailed reading journal, which will become the basis of assessment when class begins. To see the lists please click here.

This is awarded for academic excellence to only 32 other students from around the state.

We had 30 seniors earn Gold Scholar Status in the Kings-wood Scholars Program. The larg-est number of students to earn this recognition since the program began in 2004.
I have only mentioned a few members of this senior class in this small space. The class of 2009 is an outstanding class. We wish them all the best of luck in their future endeavors.
